Doughty Steel & Machine (DSM) has been a trusted name in fabrication since 1935, when Melvin Doughty opened a blacksmith shop in Eckert, Colorado. Starting with plow shear sharpening, DSM has grown into a full-service job shop located in Delta, Colorado. While our operation has expanded, we remain committed to the same values that began nearly a century ago: personalized service and an unwavering dedication to quality.

In 2025 Doughty Steel & Machine became DSM – an ode to the rich history and modern direction of the company. To this day DSM is family-owned, and has grown into a full-service manufacturing facility located in Delta, Colorado. Our team is comprised of experienced fabricators, machinists, certified welders, CAD and CNC specialists, powder coat experts, and support staff. We strive to make a positive impact on our customers, employees and community.
Today, DSM offers a full range of fabrication services utilizing state-of-the-art technology including CAD programs, CNC lasers, CNC press brakes, CNC lathes, mills, and bed lasers and a full powder coating line to produce both small and large runs with precision and efficiency. Our team includes AWS certified welders and highly experienced professionals who ensure each project meets the highest standards.
